Summary Of The Boxer Rebellion
In 1899, the Boxer Rebellion was basically a revolt in China against foreign influence in trade, religion, and politics. The Boxers (The Rightcs Fists of Harmony killed thousands of Chinese Christians and tried to overtake the foreign embassies in Beijing. A 55-day siege was in place while the embassies were relieved at the sight of 20,000 European, Japanese, and American troops. At the beginning of the rebellion, many expeditions were launched and the Chinese government was forced to sign the "Boxer Protocol" which called for the rebellion's leaders to be executed and the financial payments to the injured nations be taken cared of.
